Flipboard Arrives on Android, Now Serving Up Google+ and YouTube
iOS users, remain calm! Yet another of your favorite apps has made the leap to the dark side (i.e., Android) -- but the developers of Flipboard have released an App Store update that keeps feature parity with the new Googleicious version.
Inside Flipboard (better known as The Official Flipboard Blog) has announced that Flipboard is now officially available on Android via the Google Play Store, Amazon Appstore and Barnes & Noble NOOK App Store. U.S. flippers picking up a new Samsung Galaxy III from carriers such as AT&T will find the app already preinstalled as well.
Along with the debut on Android, Flipboard adds two new services from the Googleplex: Google + and YouTube. The good news is, iOS users haven't been forgotten -- there's a version 1.9.3 update waiting for you in the App Store which adds all of the same stuff.
"Now you can connect your Google+ account to Flipboard and see all the activity in your Circles in a beautiful magazine format," the blog notes. "You can '+1' (Google’s version of 'like') any post from within Flipboard, or tap the status update to share, comment and reply.
"The YouTube experience is similarly transformed, as video browsing becomes more like reading a magazine," the Flipboard team continues. "Flip through your subscriptions, uploads and favorites, or enjoy popular feeds like Most Viewed, Trending Videos and Top Favorites."
Last but not least, the latest version adds five new international editions for Germany, Italy, Korea, the Netherlands and Spain with a fully translated interface and tons of reading recommendations curated by local editors in those countries.
