Apple Racks Up 3 Million OS X Mountain Lion Downloads in Only 4 Days
So, it seems an awful lot of us have downloaded OS X Mountain Lion since its debut last Wednesday. Exactly how many? More than three million in just four days, according to Apple themselves.
Apple has announced that OS X Mountain Lion is officially the most successful Mac OS X release in the company's history, racking up more than three million downloads since last Wednesday, July 25 -- a mere four days.
âJust a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever,â said Philip Schiller, Appleâs senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
It certainly didn't hurt that the OS X Mountain Lion upgrade costs a mere $19.99 from the Mac App Store, and that price applies equally to users of Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 as well as last year's OS X Lion.
And there's still more to come: Apple is planning "an upcoming software update to Mountain Lion" that will add Facebook integration, a feature that's also coming to iOS 6 this fall.
