JibJab Jr. Books Will Soon Become Starring You StoryBooks
The JibJab brand may be synonymous with pasting your face onto a dancing elf at Christimas time, but the company also makes a line of children's e-books under the same name as well -- but that will be changing next month.
JibJab Jr. has announced a big change for its iPad storybook app coming in September. The current JibJab Jr. Books app will be rechristened as Starring You StoryBooks, while the brand name itself will become part of the company's new StoryBots initiative.
If you're a fan of JibJab Jr. Books, fear not: The two brothers behind the clever idea promise that the books themselves will not change "one iota," with a new title continuing to roll out each month.
The new Starring You StoryBooks app will feature a fun animated intro which the company is previewing on their blog, as well as a slick new home screen to display even more books at once.
Kids will also be treated to an animation at the close of each book, with "a much softer approach" that transitions more smoothly back to the home screen.
Perhaps the biggest change from JibJab Jr. Books to Starring You StoryBooks comes with under-the-hood changes that will make the app load faster than ever before.
"Our technology team spent weeks digging into the initial code that was written for the app and have optimized the heck out of it," the blog notes. "The result? The app is blazing fast compared to the current version. A lot of the pauses that used to happen in the experience while you were waiting for things to load now happen in the background so the app, overall, is more responsive."
No word on exactly when the updated Starring You StoryBooks app will hit the App Store, but fans can keep in touch on the new StoryBots Facebook page to be the first to know.
