Video: Authentic-Looking iPhone 5 Back Cover Gets Its 5 Minutes of Fame
Youâve seen the leaked âblurrycamâ photos, but now that supposed iPhone 5 back cover is ready for its close-up -- and in 720p HD quality. But the question remains: Is it the real thing or a decoy?
BGR is reporting on a video posted to YouTube this week from mobile phone parts supplier ETrade Supply. In the nearly five-minute video, one of its employees walks us through a detailed look at what could very well be the back cover part for the next iPhone, expected later this fall.
âThe iPhone casing appears identical to the housing that appeared in a number of leaked photos published by various websites last week,â the report notes. âVisible in the video are a new, smaller port for a redesigned dock connector, a relocated headphone jack, new speaker grills and a taller design that will reportedly be home to a larger 4.08-inch display.
âThe case appears to be significantly thinner than the housing found on the current iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, and the unit will supposedly make use of a new smaller SIM card,â the report concludes.
While the video (embedded below) is certainly more convincing than earlier photos -- and definitely more than those âreliable sourceâ rumors that have been ramping up lately -- weâll still withhold final judgment on this until an Apple executive actually pulls one out of their pocket.
