Reports Discuss Apple's Big Leap in the Enterprise

TechCrunch reports that Appcelerator quietly announced its annual data showcasing the percentage of app development for the enterprise for each major mobile operating system. Last year, Apple's iOS and Google's Android were deadlocked at 44%. This year however, Apple made a significant jump to 53% while Android slowly sunk to 38%.

Appcelerator publishes a survey every quarter with IDC Research of its community of developers. This quarter, the developers were asked their opinion on each mobile operating system. When surveyed, the developers responded that they were attracted to the market size and price point of Android devices. Because Android offers a variety of devices at a diverse price range, business might opt to use them over an iPhone. Appcelerator's Director of Enterprise Strategy, Michael King, agreed with this notion when explaining that "Apple is a consumer centric app in the eyes of developers." The Apple product is pricey and is limited to a few devices. However, Apple does still find themselves sitting atop Android's marketshare, especially now that Cupertino has been making extreme efforts to push its way through the enterprise market.

The survey also showed that two-thirds of developers are making apps for their own businesses and customers. So if majority of the people working in the company are using iOS devices, then the efforts will focus on developing business-centric apps for iOS.

AppleĆ¢€™s push into the business world is becoming more apparent as the years go by. The Apple ecosystem is the main attraction. Every iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and third-gen iPad, and Mountain Lion Mac is able to mirror its screen through an Apple TV, a product that's bound to find its way into more meeting rooms.
