Sapphire's latest AMD graphics card sports two fans and dust repellant bearings.
The Mayan calendar tells us the end of the world is nigh (wait until you see what Google has in store), but that didn't stop Sapphire from launching another graphics card. If the world really does come to an end tomorrow, the 'Sapphire HD 7870 XT with Boost' will be the company's last product ever released, and on paper, it doesn't look like a bad way to be remembered.
It's based on AMD's Tahiti architecture with a 256-bit memory interface, 1,280 stream processors, and 80 texture units. The card sports 2GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 1500MHz (6GHz effective) and has a core clockspeed of 925MHz, which rises to 975MHz via PowerTune Boost.
Cooling duties are handled by Sapphire's Dual-X cooler technology, which consists of graduated heatpipes and two aerofoil fans with dust repelling bearings.
Sapphire neglected to mention pricing or availability information, an odd omission considering the company claims this card sets a new price/performance ratio for graphics. It's all moot if the world ends tomorrow anyway though, right?
